What Is Road to Dunkirk
Road to Dunkirk is a DLC for Sudden Strike 4, released on October 20, 2017 by developer Kite Games and publisher Kalypso Media Digital. The expansion focuses on one of the turning points of World War II — the evacuation of Allied forces from Dunkirk in 1940, when British and French troops were pinned against the coast as German forces closed the ring around them.
Two Campaigns — Two Perspectives on the Same Events
The DLC offers four missions split between two opposing campaigns:
- German campaign: break through French defenses in the Battle of Lille, capture Dunkirk, and destroy a British battleship.
- Allied campaign: counterattack in the Battle of Ypres-Comines and evacuate troops during Operation Dynamo.
Players can choose between two historical commanders: French general Charles de Gaulle and British general Harold Alexander. Each unlocks a distinct set of tactical abilities.
New Units
Road to Dunkirk adds more than 10 combat units not present in the base game, including the German SIG 33 Bison artillery, the French heavy tank Char B1, the British medium tank A10 Cruiser Mk, and other vehicles of the era.
