Saints Row 2 continues the successful Saints Row series with a focus on open-world freedom: play who you want, how you want, and with whomever you want. Set years after the original, the story returns to a familiar but transformed Stilwater, where you must restore the Saints as the city's rightful kings and take revenge on those who crossed them.

The game places a strong emphasis on detailed customization. You can create a male, female, or intermediate character, modify the appearance and performance of vehicles, and personalize hideouts and even gangs. This is an important part of the open-world experience: Stilwater is more than a backdrop—it is a place you can shape and explore in your own style.
Saints Row 2 includes a seamlessly integrated cooperative story campaign. For example, one player can drive while the other shoots. Competitive multiplayer takes place in the living environment of Stilwater, complete with police, civilians, and rival gangs.
Combat combines vehicle-based and on-foot action. Planes, helicopters, motorcycles, boats, and cars can be controlled and used as weapons. On foot, you can use melee moves, fine aiming, and human shields. The game features more missions, activities, races, weapons, vehicles, neighborhoods, and interiors than before. More than 40 story missions and additional bonus missions unfold across a transformed Stilwater that is over 50% larger.
