The "Black Coats": Soviet Naval Infantry on the Eastern Front
Men of War: Red Tide is a standalone expansion for the Men of War series, released in November 2009. It was developed by Best Way and published by Fulqrum Publishing (formerly 1C). The story was co-written with author Alexander Zorich and follows the "Black Coats," an elite unit of Soviet naval infantry fighting where land meets sea.
The game features 23 missions recreating fierce battles of the Eastern Front — from Odessa and Sevastopol to Nikolaev and Constanta. Players coordinate amphibious landings, storm fortified positions, and command armored trains, naval forces, and aircraft.
Gameplay: Tactics and Direct Control
Red Tide combines the tactical depth of real-time strategy with direct, third-person control of individual units. Players freely switch between overall squad command and personal control of a specific soldier or vehicle, balancing large-scale tactics with close attention to each engagement.
