Max Payne โ a third-person noir shooter created by Remedy Entertainment. You play as Max Payne, a New York City police detective whose wife and infant daughter were murdered by a drug called Valkyr. Having lost his family, Max wages his own war against those behind their deaths.
On a cold winter night, Max finds himself drawn into a conspiracy: he is framed, declared a wanted man, and must now fight his way alone through a snow-covered city drowning in crime. The grim atmosphere of a crime novel, the hero's internal monologues, and graphic-novel-style storytelling make the story truly cinematic.
The game's main highlight is the bullet time slow-motion mechanic: Max dives through the air, bullets fly slower, and you have time to precisely gun down enemies in a spectacular firefight. It was this mechanic that once made Max Payne the gold standard of the genre.
