Final DOOM is a classic first-person shooter and a standalone expansion continuing the DOOM II: Hell on Earth line. The PC version released on June 17, 1996, and keeps the series' signature formula: fast-paced firefights, finding the level exit, colored keys for doors, and nonstop battles with demons.
Final DOOM combines two level sets — TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment — with 32 maps each, for a total of 64 levels. The goal in each one is simple: reach the exit, survive, and don't get lost in the mazes full of enemies and secrets. Your arsenal includes a chainsaw, pistol, shotgun, rocket launcher, and other weapons. Enemies vary in size, speed, health, and attacks: from zombies and imps to giant cyberdemons and skeletons with shoulder-mounted rocket launchers.
Both sets were created by design teams outside id Software, and the game itself is known for its increased difficulty compared to the two previous installments. Finding secret rooms is optional, but they make the playthrough noticeably easier: you can find weapons, ammo, armor, medkits, and temporary bonuses earlier than usual — increased damage, invulnerability, acid protection, or invisibility.
