Empire: Total War is a large-scale historical strategy game from studio The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA. The action unfolds in the 18th century — the age of gunpowder, colonial wars, and the struggle for dominance on land and at sea. The game combines turn-based empire management on a global map with spectacular real-time battles.
At the heart of the game is a grand campaign spanning Europe, North and South America, India, and the Middle East. You choose one of the historical powers, develop your economy, science, and trade, build cities, forge alliances, and conduct diplomacy to turn your nation into a great empire. Technological advancement unlocks new troops, ships, and opportunities — from line infantry to powerful artillery.
The series' key innovation is naval battles. Here you can personally command a fleet: form a line of battle, maneuver with the wind, and unleash broadsides on enemy ships. On land, you'll face large battles with dozens of regiments, where terrain, formation, and skillful use of infantry, cavalry, and cannons matter.
