Arcania Gothic Pack — Action/RPG in the Gothic Universe
Arcania Gothic Pack is an action-focused role-playing game set in the universe of the Gothic series. The project was originally announced as Gothic 4, but ultimately released as a standalone spin-off with only minor ties to the main Gothic storyline.
The story follows Robar III, King of Myrtana and former hero of the Gothic trilogy, as he sends an army to conquer the Southern Isles. The king appears to be under the influence of an evil force. The protagonist is a young man from the island of Feshyr whose life is shattered when Robar's troops invade the island and kill his family. He must now become the new Nameless Hero, avenge his loved ones, and put a stop to the king's madness.
The game world is built in a high-fantasy style. It is open for exploration but divided into several regions, each functioning as its own open zone. To progress further, players must complete NPC quests that unlock access to new areas.
The gameplay is a third-person 3D RPG with a strong focus on combat. Compared to the main Gothic games, several mechanics have been simplified: magic is limited to fire, ice, and lightning, though these schools can still be upgraded. Three character classes are available: warrior, mage, and ranger. The hero's level increases automatically, while distributing experience across skills remains up to the player.
